I got the idea for this swap from Pirate4x4.  I got my springs from a local junkyard for $100, including the stock shackles.  They came from a 1998 Chevy 1500 2wd.  They have 4 leaves plus an overload.  The spring bolts were rusted in place when I got them.  They required a 12 ton press to get them out.  The bushings were OK though.

I had my friend Rob, aka, "Fabricator", make me a new front spring hanger, which he welded on 11" inches forward of the stock mount.

Rob also made me a pair of custom 5" braced shackles.  The stock Chevy shackle mounts in the stock location on the frame, and then connects to the custom shackle, and then to the spring.

The springs ride much better than the stock ones did.  They gave me 2-3" of lift.  When I did my sas, I added 2" lift blocks to match the front.  It's still not enough, so I'm working on some sort of add-a-leaf to get even more lift.
