I got this Nylint 1:18 Jeep as a Christmas gift. I honestly didn't think it was going to be very good. But I was pleasantly surprised! With a few simple modifications, this thing works surprisingly well! Nothing else can touch it for $40! All the modifications I have done have not cost me anything but a few hours of my time, and they have helped the truck crawl a LOT better than it did stock. Here's what I've done: Cut 4 coils off the front and rear coil springs. This lowers the ride height of the truck, which helps considerably to lower the center of gravity. Also gives you maybe a half inch or more of wheelbase. Cut 1/4" off the body mounts to lower the body down. Helps bring the center of gravity down a little. Extended the hole in the side of the chassis where the link droop limiter pin slides on the chassis. Hard to explain if you've never seen it before. But it gives me a little more droop. Cut the tires, and flipped them so the treads face the opposite way. I cut every other tread out, which was the low profile ones. This greatly increases traction. These are the mods I feel are absolutely necessary and should be performed on your Nylint as soon as you take it out of the box. My next set of mods are to extend the 3rd links pin, and put in a higher capacity battery. Updates will follow accordingly. UPDATE.... I added additional gear reduction to the axles to give me an even slower crawling speed. I used a Tamiya planetary gear box.
