After having my rear axle seals blow due to a clogged differential breather on the rear axle, I decided it was time to move the breather to a different location. I started off by removing the spare tire from underneath the truck to give me more room. No need to jack up the rig. I removed the factory breather which just took something like a 14mm socket. Man was that thing clogged with mud! Then I installed the new breather onto the axle. After that I fitted the hose onto the breather and tightened the clamp. Next I ran the line up over the frame and into the wheel well. In order to access the fuel filler area I had to remove the black plastic cover under the wheel well. That is done by carefully popping out the 4 or so rivets that hold it in place. It was a little tricky but I managed to do it. You will need to pry the little wings on the clips so that it fits through the hole. Then that will give you access to the filler neck area. I just wire tied the end up side down so that water could not leak into the tube. I capped it off using the new filter and clamping it down. I used all Toyota parts, which are part N 90404-51319 for the breather plug and part 90930-03136 for the filter. Both had to be special ordered from Toyota. Took a few days to get a hold of them.
