I did not have to buy a new stereo system because I already had one in my previous car, so I just transferred it. I have a JVC head unit and a soundstream SPL 10" sub with a soundstream lil' wonder amp. Sounds ok but I am planning on upgrading it to 2 12" kicker comp subs. Installation of the head unit is pretty simple. Basically what you do is first remove the knobs from the heater/ac controls. Then gently pry off the plastic panel on the controls, also removing the ac on/off switch and clock assembly. Then remove the screws that are holding the plastic panel on the side of the lower part of the console and remove the piece that covers the shift levers. Then gently pry the whole dash trim piece which several small snaps will come un done. Then unplug your cigarette lighter wire harness and ash tray light harness. When you have the dash exposed, there will be 4 screws to the right and left of the double din opening where your radio is. Remove those and pull the radio out, and un plug the factory wire harness and antenna that is in the back of the radio. Just reverse these directions to put a new radio in. You will need some accessories to complete the installation, like a wire harness adapter to match the factory wire harness up to your aftermarket radio. They can be found at RadioShack, AutoZone, or any other place that sells car audio. Then you will need a new "pocket" which is the small black compartment that fills up the extra din opening that your factory cd player once did. Your truck may have already came with this if you don't have the factory cd player.
